Wandsworth Common Home

Wandsworth Common Home

This stunning Victorian home had a complete remodelling and side return on the ground floor, exposing the brickwork and transforming the large open plan kitchen.

The restricted space in Victorian terraced properties challenged us as the architect to rethink the functionality every inch, hence the side extension instalment.

We combined this with a rear extension and complete remodelling to create an open living, kitchen and dining area.

The historical features in the property drove the design from the beginning and became fundamental in modernising the property respectfully. In the kitchen, the skylight highlights the exposed brick wall which carries through the house enclosure to the outdoors. The living and dining areas live along one central axis with level changes defining the various zones.

The line of sight from the moment you walk into the house passes through to the back patio, which is tastefully lit in the evening alongside the brick wall.
