The Alfriston Road project reimagines a traditional London property through a carefully considered rear extension and interior reconfiguration designed to enhance space, light, and connectivity throughout the home.

The design focuses on creating a generous open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area at the rear of the property, allowing the home to function as a cohesive social space for modern family life. Large glazed openings and rooflights introduce abundant natural light while visually connecting the interior with the garden, creating a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living.

Materiality plays a key role in the architectural concept. Contemporary finishes and clean-lined joinery are paired with subtle references to the original character of the house, ensuring the extension reads as a refined modern addition while respecting the existing architecture.

Internally, the layout has been carefully rationalised to improve circulation and maximise usable space. The result is a calm, elegant interior that balances practicality with understated architectural detailing, delivering a home that feels both modern and timeless.
